GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

ATTN all SENIORS:  Pick up the "Graduation Code of Conduct" letter during Advisor TODAY at ASB Office.  You will need this form to pick up your graduation tickets.

ATTN all seniors: Transcript request!  When requesting the transcript, please indicate if you want it with "final grades".  Those transcripts will be ready on June 11th.  Stop by the ASB Office for any questions.

Attention All seniors: Textbooks, kindles and AP books are due no later than 3:30 pm Friday May 25th. Charges will be submitted at 3:35 pm on Friday. Questions See Mrs. Favela in the library. 

Attention all future AP Chemistry and IB Chemistry Year 1 students:  Please pick up your summer assignment for the school year 2018_19 with Mrs. Turner in room I-50, TODAY after school at 3:30 or Wed. before school at 7:30.

Attention all students:  Library books are due Wednesday May 23rd. Please return and pay any overdue fine by 3:30 pm. Charges will be submitted to the ASB office by 3:35 pm. Questions see Mrs. Favela in the library.  

ATTN all students:  Sports Physicals will take place on Saturday, June 2nd at the Imperial Valley Fairgrounds, Casa de Manana Bldg starting at 8:00 am.  Cost is $15.00 and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.  Stop by ASB Office to pick up the form.

2018 Southwest Cross Country: All returning and any new runners interested in being part of a championship team should attend a meeting TODAY in P-82 at 3:20 pm. (22)

Spring Sports Athletes:  Albert will be in his office from 3:30 to 5 pm all this week to collect uniforms.  All athletes who are done with their season have until Friday, May 25th to turn in their uniforms before a late charge is submitted to the ASB office.

Cheer tryout information:  There is a “mandatory” informational meeting on May 24th at 6 pm in the Gym for parent and student interested in trying out for Cheer.

If you are behind on credits, low gpa or simply want a smaller setting and get a fresh new start, Desert Oasis High School might be an alternative for you to graduate with a WASC accredited high school diploma. Please call 760-336-4555 to make an appointment.

ATTENTION ALL JUNIORS:  TODAY 2018 is our annual Higher Ed. Week II.  College and University recruiters will be on campus to provide information to juniors about university requirements, financial aid and college life.  Juniors only will receive an invitation to attend an Application Workshop at 1:16 p.m.(following 2nd lunch) and College Fair will follow.   Join us and show your support for Higher Ed. Week by wearing your University or College apparel on TODAY.

All current  Sophomores who have signed up for A.P. Language next school year need to come see Ms. Ramirez/Mr. Huerta in B-4 at 3:20 pm TODAY, Tuesday, May 22nd for a brief informative meeting and to pick up your Summer Assignment. Only students who have already signed up for A.P. Language with their counselors & have a C or better in their English/Honors 10 class will receive the summer assignment.

ATTN Varsity Spring Sport Athletics:  Spring Sport Banquet is Wednesday, May 30th.  RSVP invitations have been mailed out and RSVP to “banquet” is due at the ASB Office by TOMORROW Wednesday, May 23rd.  Questions stop by ASB Office.

ATTENTION ALL CLUBS:  The last ASB approval meeting for "disbursements" is TOMORROW Wednesday, May 23rd.  If you are rolling over funds, please submit minutes indicating why and be specific on the minutes was to what the funds will be supporting next school year.  Questions stop contact the ASB Office.

 

 

 

REMINDERS

 

ATTN students: A Mariachi Class is now being offered at Southwest beginning next year. If you play an instrument or sing, you qualify. Reading music is not a requirement. This will be an exciting class with many opportunities to interact with the local Mariachi community. Interested students should see Mr. Spataro as soon as possible.

Attention all singers, Advanced Choir will be offered next year. Advanced choir will be performing a variety of music ranging from Broadway hits to the Classics. They also participate in festivals and events across the state. Please see Mr. Spataro if you are interested.

ATTN Juniors & Sophomores: UC Irvine is hosting College Day for SHS students to experience UC Irvine student life. For the three days and three nights, selected students will shadow UCI students, attend UCI classes, and live in UCI dorm rooms, from September 26 -28, 2018. Apply online at ivsolanteaters.weebly.com, the deadline to apply is May 28, 2018.

ATTENTION FreshmenSophomores & Juniors!  The Cal-SOAP program is offering a FREE SAT Preparation Academy from June 11 to June 26 HERE at Southwest High School during the Summer.  You will receive 40+ hours of intensive SAT prep instruction and specialized tutoring completely FREE. If you are interested pick up an application at the Counseling Office.

ATTN 9th – 11th Graders:  This summer & next school year you may start earning college credits at SHS thru IVC Dual Enrollment classes.  There is not tuition fee.  Pickup an IVC Summer School application at the Counseling Office: Counseling 120, and/or Oral Communications both at SHS from 8am-11:10 am.  8th period Fall 2018 courses: Sociology 101 and/or Geology.  8th period Spring 2019 courses: art 102 and/or Humanities.  Minimum GPA to enroll is 2.5 for 9th, 2.0 for 10th & 11th graders.  Students must complete IVC Registration and Dual enrollment application.  For more info contact Camila Collado, IVC 760-355-5733, E: Camila.collado@imperial.edu or visit our webpage: www.eaglecounseling.weebly.com and the Counseling Office.

ATTN Seniors:  You must be cleared of all “Fines”, have a GPA 2.0, passing your core classes and on track to graduate and not having 10 or more unexcused period absences.  No discipline referrals to attend upcoming senior events.  Questions stop by the ASB Office or see Mr. Rubio in the Discipline Office.

ATTN all student: Do you need help with Social Studies assignments between now and the end of school? Mr. Burt will be offering Social Studies Tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 4:15 in the Library. Please feel free to come by.
